Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

How To Recover Your Facebook Account When You Can No Longer Log In Has your Facebook account been hacked or did you forget your password and can no longer access it? You are not alone! Dozens of people turn to us with similar questions every day. Unfortunately, the answer to their questions isn’t straightforward. There are a few things you can try, depending on the situation with your account. This article summarizes your options and outlines what you can do step by step. 1. Have You Tried the Default Account Recovery Options Yet? Whether you forgot your password or your username or whether someone managed to hack your account and changed your password, there are several ways to reclaim your account. First, you need to identify your account. For this step you can use your email address or your phone number or you provide your full name and the name of a friend. Click here to get to the recovery page shown in the screenshot below. When you successfully managed to identify your account, you will be shown the reset password page (see screenshot below). Before you proceed to reset your password, carefully check whether this really is your account and whether the email address(es) and mobile phone number(s) listed are ones you can presently access. If all is well, check the contact methods that apply, then click the Reset Password button and a password reset code will be sent to the respective email address or mobile phone number. If you manage to regain access to your account this way and if you suspect that your account was hacked, immediately change your password and update your contact information. Be sure to remove any email addresses or phone numbers that are not your own or that you can no longer access. 2. Do You No Longer Have Access To Contact Options Or Has Your Information Been Changed? Often, it’s not possible to recover an account using the options above. Maybe you no longer have access to the email address(es) and phone number(s) or a hacker changed this information. In that case, Facebook allows you to specify a new email address, which they will use to contact you about recovering your account. To start this process, click the link No longer have access to these? in the bottom right on the reset password page to start the recovery process. You will be given the option to answer your security question and reset your password on the spot. However, if you are able to answer your security question, there will be a 24 hour waiting period before you can access your account as an extra security precaution. 3. Do You Have Trusted Friends That Can Help You Recover Your Account? If you can not answer your security question after following the procedure described under point 2, Facebook will let you select some trusted friends to help you recover your account. The friends you selected will receive a security code from Facebook. Once you have collected all codes from your friends, you can submit the codes to Facebook as instructed and reset your password. You can find more information about the whole recovery process on this page in the Facebook Help Center. 4. Was Your Account Hacked & Is Sending Out Spam? In the event that your account was hacked and is posting spam to your friends walls while you can no longer access it, you should report your Facebook account as compromised. This will actually start a similar yet different process as the one outlined under point one. While you will use the same information to identify your account, in the following step you will be able to use either a current or an old Facebook password to recover your account. This is useful in case a hacker changed your password, but may also come in handy in case you forgot your new password. Find more security-related tips on the Account Security page in the Facebook Help Center. Also have a look at my article 4 Things To Do Immediately When Your Facebook Account Is Hacked for more advice on what to do if your account was hacked. 5. Is None Of The Above An Option? Maybe your situation is different from the scenarios described above and hence the suggested solutions won’t work. In that case I recommend you view the Report Abuse or Policy Violations section within the Facebook Help Center for additional options in your specific case. The page contains comprehensive information on how to report impostors or scams and advice on what to do with accounts of deceased friends or someone who posted a suicidal comment. Finally, if you need more help, you are more than welcome to submit a question to MakeUseOf Answers and we will try our best to help you in your specific case. Please let us know in case this article helped you recover your account! Also, if you know of additional ways to recover a Facebook account, please share them with us. Tina Sieber

How to make a computer faster: 6 ways to speed up your PC By following a few simple guidelines, you can maintain your computer, help increase your PC speed, and help keep it running smoothly. This article discusses how to use the tools available in Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP Service Pack 3 to help make your computer faster, maintain your computer efficiently, and help safeguard your privacy when you're online. Note: Some of the tools mentioned in this article require you to be logged on as an administrator. If you aren't logged on as an administrator, you can only change settings that apply to your user account. 1. Remove spyware, and help protect your computer from viruses Spyware collects personal information without letting you know and without asking for permission. From the websites you visit to user names and passwords, spyware can put you and your confidential information at risk. In addition to privacy concerns, spyware can hamper your computer's performance. To combat spyware, you might want to consider using the PC safety scan from Windows Live OneCare. This scan is a free service that helps check for and remove viruses. Download Microsoft Security Essentials for free to help guard your system in the future from viruses, spyware, adware, and other malicious software (also known as malware). Microsoft Security Essentials acts as a spyware removal tool and includes automatic updates to help keep your system protected from emerging threats. The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is another utility that checks computers running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 for infections by specific, prevalent malicious software, including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom, and helps remove any infection found. 2. Free up disk space The Disk Cleanup tool helps you to free up space on your hard disk to improve the performance of your computer. The tool identifies files that you can safely delete and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files. Use Disk Cleanup to: Remove temporary Internet files. Delete downloaded program files, such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets. Empty the Recycle Bin. Remove Windows temporary files, such as error reports. Delete optional Windows components that you don't use. Delete installed programs that you no longer use. Remove unused restore points and shadow copies from System Restore. Tip: Typically, temporary Internet files take the most amount of space because the browser caches each page you visit for faster access later. To use Disk Cleanup: Windows 7 users Windows Vista users Windows XP users 3. Speed up access to data Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk as a file is opened (to piece it back together). The response time can be significantly longer. Disk Defragmenter (sometimes shortened to Defrag by users) is a Windows utility that consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk. With your files stored neatly end to end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up. When to run Disk Defragmenter In addition to running Disk Defragmenter at regular intervals (weekly is optimal), there are other times you should run it, too, such as when: You add a large number of files. Your free disk space totals 15 percent or less. You install new programs or a new version of the Windows operating system. To use Disk Defragmenter: Windows 7 users Windows Vista users Windows XP users Running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter on a regular basis is a proven way to help keep your computer running quickly and efficiently. If you'd like to learn how to schedule these tools and others to run automatically, please read Speed up your PC: Automate your computer maintenance schedule. 4. Detect and repair disk errors In addition to running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to optimize the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility. As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult or even impossible. The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors and scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced. If you use your computer daily, you should run this utility once a week to help prevent data loss. Run the Error Checking utility: 5. Learn about ReadyBoost If you're using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use ReadyBoost to speed up your system. A new concept in adding memory to a system, it allows you to use non- volatile flash memory—like a USB flash drive or a memory card—to improve performance without having to add additional memory. Learn more about ReadyBoost in Windows 7. Learn more about ReadyBoost in Windows Vista. 6. Upgrade to Windows 7 If you try all the previous remedies and your computer still isn't as fast as you would like it to be, you may want to consider updating to Windows 7. Find out if your computer can run Windows 7 using the Upgrade Advisor. Compare Window 7 editions. Read a third-party review of Windows 7 by David Pogue of The New York Times. If the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor determines that your computer can't run Windows 7 and you still have the need for speed, it might be time for a new computer. There are some great deals on new computers right now: Shop for new desktop computers. Shop for new laptop computers. Shop for netbooks.

Types Of Viruses Not all computer viruses behave, replicate, or infect the same way. There are several different categories of viruses and malware. Below I list and discuss some of the most common types of computer viruses. Trojan Horse: A trojan horse program has the appearance of having a useful and desired function. While it may advertise its activity after launching, this information is not apparent to the user beforehand. Secretly the program performs other, undesired functions. A Trojan Horse neither replicates nor copies itself, but causes damage or compromises the security of the computer. A Trojan Horse must be sent by someone or carried by another program and may arrive in the form of a joke program or software of some sort. The malicious functionality of a Trojan Horse may be anything undesirable for a computer user, including data destruction or compromising a system by providing a means for another computer to gain access, thus bypassing normal access controls. Worms: A worm is a program that makes and facilitates the distribution of copies of itself; for example, from one disk drive to another, or by copying itself using email or another transport mechanism. The worm may do damage and compromise the security of the computer. It may arrive via exploitation of a system vulnerability or by clicking on an infected e-mail. Bootsector Virus: A virus which attaches itself to the first part of the hard disk that is read by the computer upon bootup. These are normally spread by floppy disks. Macro Virus: Macro viruses are viruses that use another application's macro programming language to distribute themselves. They infect documents such as MS Word or MS Excel and are typically spread to other similar documents. Memory Resident Viruses: Memory Resident Viruses reside in a computers volitale memory (RAM). They are initiated from a virus which runs on the computer and they stay in memory after it's initiating program closes. Rootkit Virus: A rootkit virus is an undetectable virus which attempts to allow someone to gain control of a computer system. The term rootkit comes from the linux administrator root user. These viruses are usually installed by trojans and are normally disguised as operating system files. Polymorphic Viruses: A polymorphic virus not only replicates itself by creating multiple files of itself, but it also changes it's digital signature every time it replicates. This makes it difficult for less sophisticated antivirus software to detect. Logic Bombs/Time Bombs: These are viruses which are programmed to initiate at a specific date or when a specific event occurs. Some examples are a virus which deletes your photos on Halloween, or a virus which deletes a database table if a certain employee gets fired.
