With the economy declining, you might be looking for a way to make some extra money online. One way is to get paid to read email. In most cases this just requires you to browse through an email and click a link, while keeping the new window open for a certain amount of time. Companies who are trying to promote their product will pay for the privilege of marketing to you this way. In exchange you make a few cents per email.

Choose a site that pays you to read emails. A few that you can use include InboxDollars, DealsnCash and Send Earnings (see resource links). You can sign up with one or all of these sites. The more you sign up with the more emails you will receive and the more money you can make. Create an account with a site by providing a user name, email address and your payment information. These sites usually either pay by check or Paypal. You will also have to put tick marks next to the categories that interest you. This will ensure you only receive emails about products or services that you have an interest in.

Check your emails regularly and read the messages that were sent to you. Go over the email and click the link so that you will be given a credit. The link is usually at the bottom of the email. Once you click the link a new window will appear with a timer. In order to get credit for reading the email you need to leave the window until the timer goes to zero.

Get paid by the website. The average payment is 2 to 5 cents per email. Continue reading emails until you have accumulated a enough money for minimum payment, which is between $10 and $50 depending on the site.
